Deployment of an Organizational Excellence Roadmap for a Semi-Governmental Entity in the Middle East
BACKGROUND & OBJECTIVE
A semi-governmental organization in a Middle Eastern country sought to enhance operational quality and align with the national transformation program to position itself as a global logistics and trade hub. The objective was to assess internal capabilities, define strategic and operational excellence initiatives, and support the execution phase to improve performance and effectiveness. Utilizing the EFQM Business Excellence Model, the engagement aimed to establish a structured roadmap for continuous organizational improvement.
PROJECT APPROACH
The project began with an in-depth assessment of the organization’s internal capabilities and maturity level, measuring the adoption of business excellence principles. A structured roadmap was developed, outlining key strategic and operational initiatives to address gaps and performance inefficiencies. The roadmap was then prioritized and scheduled for implementation, ensuring alignment with the entity’s capabilities, strategic focus, and long-term objectives. Engagement with key stakeholders ensured leadership involvement and ownership of initiatives. Finally, the necessary resources were defined, and a monitoring framework was put in place to track progress and ensure successful execution.
OUR METHODOLOGY
A structured methodology was employed using excellence standards and frameworks to benchmark organizational capabilities. Scoring matrices and evaluation tools were applied to measure performance across various domains. The EFQM Model was leveraged to ensure alignment with globally recognized business excellence principles. Scheduling and prioritization criteria were used to streamline initiative rollout. Additionally, progress reporting and monitoring tools were implemented to ensure transparent execution, enabling real-time performance tracking and escalation mechanisms for timely issue resolution.
THE RESULTS
The project successfully assessed the entity’s capabilities and established its maturity level across multiple functional areas. A set of excellence initiatives was defined, tailored to critical success factors that would drive strategic and operational improvements. The engagement estimated resource needs and profiled competencies essential for achieving future-state excellence. Finally, the implementation phase was actively supported, with a structured reporting and escalation mechanism ensuring sustained progress and long-term impact.
