Business Process Reengineering & Automation for the National Business Registration General Directorate in a Middle Eastern Country
BACKGROUND & OBJECTIVE
Efficient business registration processes are essential for attracting investments, promoting entrepreneurship, and enhancing ease of doing business. The Ministry of Trade in a Middle Eastern country sought to modernize its National Business Registration General Directorate by conducting a full-scale process reengineering and automation initiative.
The primary objective of this project was to:
- Analyze and optimize the end-to-end business registration process to eliminate inefficiencies.
- Map the customer journey and conduct a gap analysis to identify bottlenecks.
- Develop a future-state (‘to-be’) process design based on international best practices.
- Enhance the digital infrastructure by designing a high-level system blueprint for a new business registration portal.
- Support the implementation phase to ensure a smooth transition to the new automated system.
This initiative aimed to significantly improve business registration efficiency, enhance regulatory compliance, and support economic growth.
PROJECT APPROACH
The project followed a structured methodology to reengineer the business registration process while ensuring stakeholder alignment and system readiness. The key phases included:
