
Gender Workforce Diversity Best-Case Practices in Iraq’s Private Sector
BACKGROUND & OBJECTIVE
This project aimed to develop three private sector case studies in Iraq, showcasing the business case for investing in women’s employment. The studiesfocused on how gender-sensitive workplace policies post-COVID-19 enhanced company resilience, improved productivity, and strengthened employeeretention. The objective was to highlight best practices and encourage the adoption of diversity-focused HR policies across Iraq’s corporate sector.
PROJECT APPROACH
- Thematic Research & Literature Review
- Conducted an extensive review of global and regional best practices on gender workforce diversity.
- Identified three key themes: family-friendly policies, safe work environments, and women in non-traditional jobs.
- Data Collection & Stakeholder Engagement
- Identified and collaborated with three leading private sector companies in Iraq.
- Conducted interviews and surveys with HR professionals and female employees.
- Analyzed existing HR policies and gender-sensitive workplace practices.
- Case Study Development & Dissemination
- Developed three in-depth case studies, each highlighting a different theme.

- Published case studies on the World Bank website and facilitated virtual launch events.
OUR METHODOLOGY
