ERP System Implementation Support & Program Management for Middle Eastern Oil & Gas Entities
BACKGROUND & OBJECTIVE
Several oil and gas companies in the Middle East embarked on a large-scale Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system implementation to modernize their operations and improve efficiency. However, they faced challenges in program management, vendor coordination, and system integration. The objective of this project was to manage and deliver implementation support, ensuring a smooth ERP deployment, aligning it with business strategy, and optimizing technical execution. Additionally, the project aimed to introduce best-in-class program management, testing protocols, and quality assurance processes to maximize system performance.
PROJECT APPROACH
The approach involved setting up a structured implementation framework that guided the ERP deployment from planning to execution. Initially, a program management office (PMO) framework was established to oversee project governance, vendor management, and timeline adherence. The team then defined ERP blueprints, conducted risk assessments, and developed a system rollout strategy. A strong emphasis was placed on User Acceptance Testing (UAT) planning, ensuring that the system met operational needs before going live. Throughout the project, integration, performance, and stress tests were conducted to ensure system resilience and scalability. The project also included comprehensive change management support, enabling a smooth transition for end-users.
OUR METHODOLOGY
To ensure a successful ERP implementation, a combination of structured methodologies and tools was applied. The PMO setup framework was deployed to establish clear project governance and execution guidelines. Change management plans were developed to facilitate smooth adoption and minimize operational disruptions. A User Acceptance Testing (UAT) Planning process was conducted to validate system functionalities before deployment. The Roll-out Cookbook, detailing the technical and business procedures for system implementation, was developed as a standardized reference. Additionally, bidding and service evaluation methodologies were applied to assess ERP vendors and ensure optimal solution selection.
THE RESULTS
The project successfully defined and implemented the ERP system rollout plan, exceeding the client’s timeline expectations. The system requirements and functionalities were clearly documented to align with the company’s strategic goals. Additionally, rigorous testing and quality assurance protocols ensured a seamless deployment, meeting all operational requirements. The structured approach provided end-to-end support in testing, integration, and performance evaluation, leading to a highly satisfied client and a well-executed ERP implementation across multiple oil and gas entities.
